Construction started on Danish solar park with 170 megawatts of generation capacity developed by GreenGo Energy
The project is located in Hjallerup in Brønderslev municipality near Aalborg (North Jutland) in Denmark and has an impressive capacity of 170 MWp.
GreenGo Energy has fully developed the project since 2021, and construction on the PV plant itself has now started. During the development phase, GreenGo Energy also delivered the PV plant engineering design and managed the selection of technology.
GreenGo Energy will now continue as EPC Manager, supervising the construction until the project is connected to the grid.
When the solar park will be grid connected 2027, its bifacial solar modules mounted on single-axis trackers will deliver 206 GWh of subsidy-free Renewable Energy annually, which is equivalent to green electricity for +59,000 Danish households. It will also help save about 21,000 tons of CO2 annually from the Danish energy production.
Works on the solar park in Brønderslev started last year with planting of 23 km of vegetation around the park to enhance biodiversity and make the park blend with nature to minimize the visual impact on the surroundings.
Late last year the high-voltage transformers or the plant’s high-voltage substation were delivered which marked a milestone for the project.
GreenGo Energy is now also developing a co-located BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) for the project with the purpose of bringing flexibility to the production profile and supporting grid stability. The goal is to have the BESS grid connected as soon as possible after the PV plant starts production.
Karsten Nielsen, Founder and CEO of GreenGo Energy, comments on the achievement of FID of this major project In Denmark: "We are pleased to start construction on this ambitious 280+ hectare 170 MWp solar park in Brønderslev, one of the largest solar parks to reach this milestone in Denmark. It will be a landmark project demonstrating how the latest technology in solar PV and enhancement of biodiversity is best applied. The project also demonstrates the power of our platform and 360° business model, and how larger project portfolios can advance successfully in partnership with competent Tier 1 investment partners ".
